HELLO, DEAR READERS! How are we today?? I’m great, mainly because of sleep, coffee, and an inordinate amount of cupcakes, courtesy of myself in celebration of my recent birthday! It was very peaceful and low-key- I spent Monday morning baking cupcakes to share, work buddies surprised me with a milkshake… and then yesterday at school I received roughly half a dozen texts and phone calls from family and friends saying they forgot and felt terrible and honestly I found the entire thing incredibly funny and I blame our rector who challenged the congregation to turn off social media for Lent this week. I have no idea how they remembered AT ALL without Facebook. I wouldn’t have!
And speaking of remembering things, THAT reminds me that we have announcements this week! (Age shall not wither, nor custom stale my infinite variety of announcement transitions…)
🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
- Confirmation Class this Sunday, March 27!

Hope you’re working on your capstone projects! Because Confirmation Class is back! This Sunday’s guest speaker is Leah’s fiancé, Chris Kirkland! (He also works at Ascension with grad and med students. I just know what information will appeal to my audience.)
Leah’s fiancé (Chris) will be talking about opening our eyes to the space, structure, significance and symbolism of our Sunday morning services.
When: This Sunday, after the 11am service. 12:30-2pm
Where: Hunt rooms
Pizza: Is it even a CAYG event without it?
Note: I asked Leah’s fiancé if he was alright with the way he was represented. He checked with Leah and she said it was ok.
2. A Letter from Alex
“I am very thankful for the Spences who hosted the parenting gathering last Sunday and for all who joined them! I am now wondering if anyone would be interested in a monthly gathering of parents for fellowship, prayer and some topical discussions, parallel to CAYG on a Sunday night. Email me if so, and do share any topics you’d like to discuss.”
3. Saturday April 2 – Putting up the tent

Do you remember a little while back… roughly 150 years ago… when the community would come together and raise the barn or throw together the school house? Well we’re doing that, sort of! Ascension is putting THE GIANT TENT back up and we need help! If you are old enough to attend CAYG, you’re old and big enough to help out in some way! 😀 And it’s really super fun!
When: Saturday, April 2
Yeah but when?: They haven’t told us, but most likely in the morning before lunch.
Where: Ascension yard.
Outfit: Clothes to get dirty!
4. Sunday April 3 – Senior Church Tour

TWO options for meeting! (Wow!)
1. Meet in Ascension’s Parish Hall at 10.45am
or
2. Go straight to the Macedonia Church of Pittsburgh and meet ABH and others at 11.
5. Sunday April 3: IT at CAYG

From 6-7pm, CAYG will be welcoming our Ascension grandparents to bring in their smartphone/kindle confusions. Could you be the much-appreciated tech-savvy teen? If so, please Sign up here!

Oldies but Goodies:

Confession: 3 Weeks Left

Remember, confession is available year-round, but if it’s filling your mind and you’re struggling, why wait? Give Alex an email and have an inner weight lifted.

Thanks to CAYG announcements I’ve already gotten to see ONE show JUST before closing night!

They had a FANTASTIC ORCHESTRA (guess where the youth was…!) but we leaders would like even more opportunities! And maybe you would too?? The earlier we hear about it, the better chance we have of making it!

And with that dear readers, I must off and away to work on a theology paper! (If it’s not a homily, it’s a paper…) But I leave you with cupcakes I made. Celebrate with me and enjoy!

Much love,
Kelsey Nienna
