Good afternoon, Dear Readers!
Welp, we’ve finally got the winter temperatures we’ve been missing, and I am OVER IT!
I was scrolling on Pinterest the other day, looking up ways to organize so as to avoid actually cleaning anything (as one does) and it occurred to me, these newsletters are quite a bit like those recipe blogs. You know, where you just want the recipe but the “chef” feels compelled to give you a brief history lesson and a bazillion pictures about how great the food is and you’re just scrolling scrolling scrolling trying to figure out if you need eggs. Only my stupid pointless stuff between announcements are actually interesting. I presume. Like, it actually sometimes furthers the narrative.
Anyhoo speaking of narratives, we’ve got some NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS so take a look!

The new Home Group idea. Interested?

ABH quote:
“Imagine a weekly hour-long gathering with friends, Bibles, conversation, prayer and encouragements, and in a home! [Note: Crackling fire in the hearth not necessarily included…]
This goes above and beyond Sunday nights. In fact the plan is to go deeper into the Sermon on the Mount in the hope that investing in our own faith, character and understanding will have benefits for ourselves AND FOR others on the following Sunday night, and beyond…
You can participate in one of three ways… as a Home Host, Bible study leader, or participant. The home host needs to have a space that can comfortably accommodate 5-10 people. Bible study leaders need to be ABH-approved. Participants need to be mature high schoolers.”

LEADERSHIP TRAINING ON SUN, JANUARY 16
Remember we are NOT meeting this Sunday! It’s the 16th! I even fixed the graphic so it’s super clear! See??

And I still don’t know what dinner is.
Ski Trip Register By Tomorrow!
Tomorrow is THE LAST DAY to sign-up for the ski trip! As ever, I cannot tell you how much fun it will be because I’ve managed to go without any injuries or ER visits ALL YEAR so far and I’d like to keep it going as long as I can, so I will not be joining you. But for those of you who do NOT have histories of fellow seminarians offering to encase you in bubble wrap, sign-up here!!

Note: If anyone is presently taking bets as to what I’ll break/sprain next, put me down for $10 that I’ll be on crutches again by Easter.
Finally,
DO YOU HAVE A BIRTHDAY?!?!?!
This statistic may surprise many of you, but more than 87% people have birthdays! Wow! And we want to put yours on our chalkboard! If you wouldn’t mind replying to the email briefly with the NAME and BIRTHDAY of the youth/volunteer, that would be great! You may even get a (very very very belated) birthday card!!!

And now, Dear Reader, now that you’ve slugged through all of the announcements, here’s finally that recipe you were after…
“It was a rare day off. Dany had recently admitted to watching the Great British Bakeoff and being grossly underwhelmed by the trifles, thus she, Nat, and I agreed we needed to take matters into our own hands. My table was laden with a dozen cups, spoons, and 30+ ingredients. We would not leave until we were sick to our stomachs and/or had created the ultimate chocolate trifle…”

Much love, Kelsey Nienna ❤
