- I am very thankful for Kelsey and Natalie who held an impromptu Sunday morning middle school group counseling session in Ascension’s kitchen between services, following Saturday’s tragedy. I am also thankful for all the high schoolers who came out on Sunday night, joined Ascension’s 6:30pm Service of Prayer and Mourning (which was as packed as the Sunday morning services had been), and were willing to share openly, listen attentively and pray helpfully in a big group for an hour afterwards. I’m very thankful that my adopted home of Pittsburgh expresses such togetherness on both a large and on a more personal scale. I am glad to be here, more than ever. It is a privilege.
- Regular CAYG this weekend (Friday and Sunday), so hope to see you there once again.
- I can arrange rides to Sewickley for those who have already signed up via the Diocese for the Diocesan Youth Gathering on Saturday. Everyone else is very welcome to join us on the day [8:30am-2:15pm, Henning House, St Stephen’s, Sewickley], paying $10 for food, but you will have to find your own way there.
- Unwanted Leftover Halloween Candy is accepted at CAYG on Friday. We are here to help…
- I am confident that our summer projects in Haiti and Charleston will advance the important friendships developing at CAYG, as well as offering individuals the transformative opportunity to serve, together, in challenging settings. To make these trips affordable I would urge you to send out our Wreaths link to friends and family and encourage them to enjoy the smell of Christmas greens in December, support these service projects, and save money as they do so! The order deadline is less than a month away!
- Christmas Movies! Two more Christmas movies, starring our high school youth groupers, will hopefully be screened at the dinner on Friday December 14th. Will Peter Regan’s Upper Classmen see success again, or will Andrew Calvetti and the Lower Classmen take the prize? Start thinking about classic Christmas movie plot lines, famous Christmas songs, and how to combine the two in a 3-minute short set at Ascension. Very thankful that we have professional videographers in the congregation to make this possible!
- Ski Trip! We are planning on going to Hidden Valley again on Sunday January 20 and Monday 21 [not 1.13 & 1.14 as previously announced], staying at the Smith’s. Interested in joining? Or being a chaperone? Or being the point person administrating the trip in the weeks leading up? Get in touch! An official sign up process is forthcoming.
